The X From Outer Space

The X From Outer Space was one of the more engaging Japanese giant monster films of the late 1960s -- working with a cast that included Eiji Okada (Hiroshima, Mon Amour), a budget that would have starved a Godzilla movie, and a title creature (Guilala) that resembled a giant lizard/chicken, director Kazui Nihonmatsu kept the action moving and delivered a film that delivered a lot of charm and heart to make up for the shortcomings of the special effects.
