A drug dealer shoots a corrupt police officer. Though the drug dealer admits his action, he pleads self-defense. His lawyer, Roland Dalton, and a "blue jean cop", Richie Marks, pursue evidence in his favor. Their investigation is hampered by fellow officers, drug dealers and other local street scum. Dalton's life is further complicated by the fact that the prosecuting attorney in his case happens to be a former lover.
