The movie Pesum Deivam Chandru refuses to get married. Subsequently he falls in love with a poor girl by name Lakshmi and marries her. Even after many years of marriage they are childless. Seeing Lakshmi's agony her servant maid begets a child for Lakshmi and Chandru to adopt. But the child dies due to illness. Finally Chandru and Lakshmi beget a child. The child is lost in a relatives wedding. Their search to find the child proves futile. Chandru reads in the newspaper that a couple from Burma had adopted a child given to them by a fisherman. Chandru and Lakshmi retrieve their child from the couple from Burma. The lady from Burma resists but finally gives away the child.
