Famous for writing 1984 and inventing Big Brother, George Orwell witnessed and reported on some of the defining moments of the 20th century. But there are no moving pictures of George Orwell, nor any other recordings of his voice. He did leave a vast written legacy, containing insights on everything. Using this, the documentary attempts to recreate his life in pictures.
About his 1984 book: You have to read it and have to experience the horror and the terror, before you can appreciate the beauty and fullness of life. It’s a cross between a political thriller and a love story. Orwell’s classic novel is a raw and haunting allegory of oppressor and oppressed, set against the backdrop of a regime ruled by the iron fist of Big Brother, the all-powerful, all-knowing and ruthless Party leader, whose gigantic image looms everywhere, and whose spies can pry into even the most intimate secrets of one’s private life. Personally, it’s one of the best books I’ve read.
