Meanwhile, nearby, Jesse, at 14, has come out to his mom and tofu-cooking step-father the week that his own fun but flaky father, a gay actor, arrives for a rare visit. Jesse’s enthusiastic embrace of his dad throws Norman, the step-father, into a crisis of confidence.
