Arasakattalai' is the story of a common man becoming the ruler of a Kingdom. Vijayan is a victim of the atrocities of the Royal family. He takes it upon him to avenge the atrocities committed to him. However when he manages to enter the palace and the King's chamber, he is arrested, but when the King comes to know about the atrocities committed to this young man he is ashamed and kills himself, but before dieing he nominates Vijayan as his successor. Vijayan vows that he will work towards making the kingdom a democratic state ruled by the people and not by one man. How he works towards his goal and what are the impediments he faces en route to achieving this goal is what the film is all about.
